WWE’s “SmackDown” Moves to USA Network in Lucrative Deal After FOX Exit

WWE’s popular show “SmackDown” is moving from FOX to USA Network after a five-year run. Despite its success in ratings, often outperforming other wrestling shows, the decision to move was primarily financial. FOX was reportedly losing over $200 million per year on the deal, and WWE’s request for a 50% increase in fees made renewing the contract unfeasible.

USA Network stepped in, offering WWE a 40% increase for “SmackDown” rights. This move was beneficial for both parties, as USA Network needed WWE’s strong ratings, and the two-hour format of “SmackDown” allowed for a more cost-effective deal compared to the longer “Raw” program. The show’s season premiere on USA Network will feature a high-profile match between Cody Rhodes and Solo Sikoa for the Undisputed WWE Championship inside a Steel Cage.
