WWE Veteran JBL Expands Career to Independent Wrestling Promotions, Praised as “Marketing Genius”
John “Bradshaw” Layfield, a WWE veteran of 29 years, has recently started making appearances in other wrestling promotions. This marks a significant change in his career, as he’s now touring with organizations like AAA, Game Changer Wrestling, TNA Wrestling, Ohio Valley Wrestling, and Major League Wrestling.
AEW commentator Jim Ross praised JBL’s recent moves, calling him a “marketing genius” for staying relevant without appearing on major wrestling television shows. Ross highlighted JBL’s ability to create demand for himself in independent wrestling shows, noting that he doesn’t need to wrestle but serves as an attraction. He also commended JBL’s business acumen and physical presence, particularly his famous “Clothesline From Hell” move.
JBL’s last WWE appearance was as a special guest commentator on a “Tribute To The Troops” edition of SmackDown. Before that, he had a stint as Baron Corbin’s on-screen manager from October 2022 to February 2023, which ended after Corbin’s prolonged losing streak. JBL’s recent career shift demonstrates his adaptability and continued relevance in the wrestling world.
