WWE Strikes $5 Billion Deal with Netflix, Moving ‘Raw’ to Streaming Platform in January
WWE has secured a massive $5 billion deal with Netflix, set to begin in January. This partnership will move the popular wrestling show “Raw” from cable TV to the streaming platform. TKO President Mark Shapiro is excited about the collaboration, praising Netflix’s promotional efforts and their potential to help grow WWE’s brand and audience globally.
The deal also includes international rights for WWE’s Premium Live Events (PLEs), while domestic rights are still open for negotiation. Shapiro highlighted the broad appeal of these events, noting that they attract not just sports fans, but also entertainment enthusiasts, women, and younger viewers. He emphasized the high engagement and social media numbers these events generate.
“Raw” is scheduled to debut on Netflix on January 6, marking a significant shift in how wrestling content is distributed and consumed. This move is expected to make WWE programming more accessible to a worldwide, digitally-connected audience, potentially reshaping the landscape of sports entertainment.
