WWE Raw to Shorten to Two Hours, Potentially Impacting Roster Size and Wrestling Landscape

WWE Raw is set to undergo a significant change, transitioning to a two-hour format until the end of the year before returning to its traditional three-hour slot when it moves to Netflix. This marks the first time since July 2012 that the show will run for two hours. Former WWE writer Freddie Prinze Jr. has shared his thoughts on this shift, suggesting it could lead to a reduced roster size.

Prinze Jr. predicts that the shorter format will result in less airtime for matches, segments, and storylines. He believes this change may prompt WWE, now owned by TKO, to make cost-effective decisions by releasing underutilized wrestlers. As a result, he anticipates more opportunities for talent to explore options with other wrestling promotions such as AEW. Additionally, Prinze Jr. mentioned that emerging promotions like GCW and MLW might secure TV deals, potentially offering new avenues for released wrestlers or those seeking alternatives.
