WWE NXT Sees Ratings Boost with CM Punk Appearances as It Prepares for CW Network Move
WWE NXT is preparing for its move to The CW network on October 2, marking its final episodes on USA Network. In a bid to boost ratings, the show featured two appearances by CM Punk during its penultimate episode. This strategy proved effective, with the show drawing 677,000 total viewers and a 0.21 rating in the crucial 18-49 demographic. These numbers represent an 8% increase in total viewership and an 11% rise in the key demographic compared to the previous week.
Despite the recent uptick, NXT has experienced a year-over-year decline in viewership. The average total viewership for Q3 2024 was down 11% from the same period in 2023, while the 18-49 demographic saw a 10% decrease. This decline is attributed to the strong performance of NXT in the previous year, which featured regular appearances by former WWE star Becky Lynch as the NXT Women’s Champion. CM Punk’s involvement in the recent episode included interactions with Roxanne Perez and her challenger Giulia, as well as the announcement that he would serve as the special guest referee for the upcoming NXT Championship match between Ethan Page and Trick Williams.
