Tommy Dreamer warns of health risks associated with light tubes in AEW All Out 2024 hardcore matches
Tommy Dreamer, known as “The Innovator of Violence” from his ECW days, recently shared his thoughts on the hardcore elements featured in AEW All Out 2024. While he was surprised by the inclusion of a plastic bag spot, Dreamer expressed more concern about the use of light tubes in wrestling matches.
Dreamer pointed out that light tubes contain mercury and are carcinogenic, posing serious health risks to both wrestlers and audience members. As a skin cancer survivor, he emphasized the danger of exposing people to these harmful substances. He compared the risks of light tubes to those of smoking, noting the irony that while smoking is no longer shown on television, fans cheer for potentially cancer-causing light tube spots.
While Dreamer found the use of a syringe in the Lights Out Steel Cage match to be unnecessary, he wasn’t particularly offended by it. However, he stressed that the dangers associated with light tubes far outweigh any entertainment value they might provide, urging caution and awareness regarding their use in wrestling performances.
