In a recent discussion about wrestling history, Tommy Dreamer, a famous ECW wrestler, highlighted what he considers one of the worst decisions in professional wrestling. He pointed to World Championship Wrestling’s (WCW) choice to remove Rey Mysterio’s iconic mask as the second-worst decision ever made in the industry.

Dreamer explained that although Mysterio’s talent allowed him to remain popular even without the mask, it forced him to reinvent his character. He praised WWE for later returning the mask to Mysterio, which helped elevate his career further.

The discussion touched on how certain booking decisions can severely impact a wrestler’s career or even an entire company. Examples mentioned include the Montreal Screwjob involving Bret Hart, WCW’s poor choices in 1999-2000 that contributed to its downfall, and WWE’s decision to turn Steve Austin into a villain at WrestleMania 17.

Dreamer also noted that while many wrestling gimmicks are short-lived, a talented performer like Mysterio can overcome bad decisions and maintain their popularity with fans over time.
