Nigel McGuinness returns to singles competition after 15 years, faces Bryan Danielson at AEW Grand Slam
Nigel McGuinness, a commentator for AEW Collision, is set to make his return to singles competition after 15 years in an AEW World Championship match against Bryan Danielson at AEW Grand Slam next week. While McGuinness is excited about the upcoming bout, he remains uncertain about his wrestling future beyond this match. He’s taking a “wait-and-see” approach, acknowledging that Danielson is currently dealing with injuries that may affect the planned match.
McGuinness has been preparing for this comeback both mentally and physically for 18 months and feels ready to face Danielson. He expressed feeling “fantastic” after his recent appearance at AEW All In and is confident about his upcoming singles match. At 48 years old, McGuinness views this match as an opportunity to settle unfinished business from his in-ring career, particularly against Danielson, whom he considers a rival with a more successful wrestling journey. While he would be content if this turns out to be his final match, McGuinness hasn’t ruled out the possibility of a continued run with AEW to achieve his long-held dreams in the industry.
