Mickie James opens up about uncomfortable storyline with John Cena in WWE, now focuses on creative role

Mickie James, a highly accomplished wrestler, recently discussed her brief and unexpected storyline with John Cena during her time in WWE. In a candid interview on the “Ring the Belle” podcast, James expressed confusion about the creative direction of their pairing and admitted to feeling uncomfortable with their on-screen chemistry.

James revealed that while she and Cena had a connection off-camera, they struggled to translate that into a compelling on-screen dynamic. She acknowledged that the storyline felt unnatural and uncomfortable when she watched it back. The veteran wrestler speculated that the WWE creative team might have been trying to capitalize on their real-life connection, but the execution fell short of expectations.

Since leaving WWE, James has moved on to new endeavors in the wrestling world. She now serves as the Creative Director for Ohio Valley Wrestling, where she can apply her extensive experience in the industry to shape future talent and storylines.
