Megan Thee Stallion’s WWE SmackDown deal complicates potential AEW collaboration with Mercedes Mone
Grammy Award-winning artist Megan Thee Stallion’s new single “Neva Play,” featuring RM from BTS, has been chosen as the official theme song for WWE SmackDown. This development has reportedly caused complications regarding a potential collaboration between Stallion and AEW TBS Champion Mercedes Mone.
According to reports, Stallion and Mone had been in talks about working together since 2021, after meeting at the Crunchyroll Anime Awards in Japan. Their friendship led to discussions between their managers about a possible partnership, with Mone even publicly mentioning the idea of getting Stallion involved with AEW. However, the unexpected announcement of “Neva Play” as SmackDown’s theme song has reportedly surprised Mone and her team.
While the WWE deal doesn’t necessarily prevent Stallion and Mone from collaborating, it has potentially complicated their plans. The situation remains unclear, but the new arrangement between Stallion and WWE has reportedly created challenges for any potential involvement with AEW.
