Mark Henry Highlights Legacy of Black Wrestlers and Personal Mission for Change
During a recent appearance on Busted Open Radio, WWE Hall of Famer Mark Henry emphasized the importance of providing a platform for African Americans in wrestling. He stressed the need to actively promote and highlight Black contributions to the industry, stating that historical records often overlook this crucial aspect.
Henry shared his personal connection to the legacy of African American wrestlers, noting that he received the torch from Ernie Ladd, another wrestling legend. He further expressed his belief in the strong influence he holds on the current generation of Black wrestlers.
Shifting focus to his own legacy, Henry emphasized that his impact will not be defined by his championship titles or physical accomplishments. He firmly stated, “When I die, they’re not going to talk about my championships. They’re not going to talk about how much weight I lifted. They’re going to talk about all the Black people I influenced.”
