Lucha Brothers’ WWE signing rumors premature, AEW contracts still in effect

Recent reports suggesting that The Lucha Brothers, Rey Fenix and Penta El Zero Miedo, had signed with WWE appear to be premature. While there is strong mutual interest between the wrestlers and WWE, multiple sources confirm that no contracts have been signed yet. Both Fightful Select and Pro Wrestling Insider report that the brothers are still under contract with AEW, although the exact status of Fenix’s contract remains unclear.

The situation became confusing when Cory Hays of PWNexus seemingly claimed the brothers had signed a multi-year deal with WWE. However, Hays later clarified that his original post didn’t explicitly state they had signed, only that conversations had taken place and merchandise plans were in motion. Hays also mentioned that Fenix’s AEW contract is set to expire this month, with no injury time being added to it.

Despite the lack of official confirmation, industry insiders still expect The Lucha Brothers to join WWE in the near future. Neither WWE nor AEW has responded to official inquiries about the wrestlers’ status. It’s worth noting that both Penta and Fenix haven’t wrestled for AEW since mid-July, and haven’t appeared in any wrestling promotion for over a month.
