Ken Shamrock, a former WWE star from the Attitude Era, recently discussed a notorious chair shot he received from Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson during a 1998 episode of WWE Raw. Despite the shot appearing brutal, Shamrock revealed it wasn’t as painful as it looked. He explained that he specifically requested The Rock to aim for his face, believing it would be less harmful than hits to the top or back of the head.

Initially skeptical, The Rock eventually agreed to Shamrock’s request after realizing he was serious. Shamrock recounted telling The Rock to “swing for my face,” assuring him he would protect himself. This incident highlights the different attitudes towards head impacts in wrestling during that era, contrasting sharply with today’s understanding of concussions and CTE. While some wrestlers have recently reintroduced unprotected chair shots, they remain largely avoided in modern professional wrestling due to increased awareness of potential long-term health risks.
