John Cena Announces WWE Retirement: Final Match Set for December 31, 2025
WWE superstar John Cena has announced his retirement from in-ring action, set to take place at the end of 2025. The 16-time World Champion made the surprise announcement at Money in the Bank 2024, revealing he will have approximately 35 to 40 scheduled appearances before his final match on December 31, 2025.
Although Cena will be stepping away from active competition, he has agreed to a contract that will keep him involved with WWE beyond 2025 in an ambassador role, similar to a Legend’s contract. As news of his impending retirement spreads, many WWE Superstars and wrestlers from other promotions have expressed interest in facing Cena during his final year. However, with limited opportunities available, only a select few will have the chance to compete against “The Doctor of Thuganomics” before he hangs up his iconic jean shorts for good.
