Hikaru Shida Falls Short in TBS Title Bid at All Out, Cherishes Mother’s Presence at Event
Hikaru Shida, a former AEW Women’s Champion, competed for the TBS Championship at All Out 2024 but was unsuccessful in her bid against Mercedes Mone. Despite the loss, Shida found the event particularly special as her mother was in attendance at the NOW Arena, watching her daughter perform in her first AEW pay-per-view match since losing the women’s world title at Full Gear last year. Shida expressed her gratitude on social media, thanking fans for their support and noting how meaningful it was to see her mother in the crowd.
Shida, a founding member of AEW’s women’s division, has been pleased with the company’s increased focus on women’s wrestling, including more main event opportunities. She has remained active not only in AEW but also in Japan and AEW’s Ring of Honor brand. In contrast to Shida’s positive relationship with her mother, AEW Women’s World Champion Mariah May has a notably different dynamic with her own mother, having slapped her at the All In event in Wembley Stadium when she cheered for May’s opponent, Toni Storm.
From inside the ring, I found my mom was staring me in the crowds after finished the match.
That made last night so special even I lost.
Thank you for showing my mom your big supports!! #AEWAllOut #AEW pic.twitter.com/adPEwr6CG3— HIKARU SHIDA 志田 光 (@shidahikaru) September 9, 2024
