GUNTHER provokes Bret Hart with Goldberg reference during WWE Raw segment in Calgary

During a recent episode of WWE Raw in Calgary, Canada, Bret Hart made a return to his home country in a segment featuring World Heavyweight Champion GUNTHER and fellow Canadian Sami Zayn. GUNTHER took an unexpected approach to provoke Hart by mentioning that his favorite wrestler growing up was Goldberg, who is known for injuring Hart and ending his career at Starrcade 1999. This reference was a departure from the usual jokes about the Montreal Screwjob or Hart’s relationship with Shawn Michaels.

Booker T, on his podcast “Hall of Fame,” praised the segment and suggested it might help Hart move past his issues with Goldberg. Meanwhile, Sami Zayn has challenged GUNTHER twice for the World Heavyweight Championship, but the champion has declined. Notably, Zayn remains the only wrestler to defeat GUNTHER by pinfall since his promotion to WWE’s main roster.
