From Accountancy to AEW Champion: Mariah May’s Wrestling Journey

Mariah May, the new AEW Women’s World Champion, recently shared her journey into professional wrestling. Initially working in accountancy after leaving school, May always dreamed of becoming a wrestler. Despite the challenges of finding training opportunities in the UK, she eventually found a reliable place to hone her skills.

May’s original goal was to move to America and appear on mainstream television. However, as she learned more about the industry, her interests shifted towards Japanese wrestling, particularly STARDOM. After four years in the English independent wrestling scene, May made her STARDOM debut in early 2023. She quickly found success, winning the Goddesses of Stardom tag team championship with Mina Shirakawa. Despite this achievement, May’s stint in STARDOM was brief, leading to her current position as AEW Women’s World Champion after defeating Toni Storm at AEW All In.
