Former WWE star criticizes Giulia’s NXT debut, suggests better introduction strategy

Giulia, a former STARDOM wrestler, recently made her surprise debut at WWE NXT No Mercy, confronting champion Roxanne Perez. While the internal reaction at WWE was positive, some outside voices, including Thunder Rosa and former WWE star Nic Nemeth (known as Dolph Ziggler), have raised concerns about the debut’s impact.

Nemeth, speaking on “Busted Open Radio,” suggested that the crowd’s reaction to Giulia was underwhelming. He pointed out that while such a surprise debut might work well with AEW’s more internationally-aware audience, the NXT crowd likely had little knowledge of Giulia’s background. Nemeth believes that NXT’s creative team overestimated the audience’s familiarity with the wrestler, despite her brief appearance in the crowd at a previous NXT event.

To improve the impact of Giulia’s debut, Nemeth recommended that WWE should have aired video packages introducing her in the weeks leading up to her appearance. Instead, the company relied on the “internet crowd” to generate hype, which didn’t effectively translate to the broader NXT audience. Despite acknowledging Giulia’s star quality and impressive work, Nemeth felt that WWE’s approach to her introduction did not do her justice.
