Former WWE commentator Jonathan Coachman has strongly criticized the extreme violence in AEW’s All Out 2024 event. Speaking on a podcast, Coachman expressed particular concern about the brutal Lights Out cage match between Adam Page and Swerve Strickland. He argued that wrestling should not be compared to movies, as it involves real people performing live in front of audiences, including children.

Coachman blamed AEW’s Tony Khan for the excessive violence, claiming that Khan makes booking decisions based on fan reactions on social media. He also criticized respected wrestler Bryan Danielson for participating in a dangerous plastic bag suffocation scene. Coachman warned about the potential for young viewers to imitate such dangerous stunts, expressing fear that it could lead to tragic accidents.

The former commentator described the event as “disgusting” and “lazy,” suggesting that extreme violence is used as a substitute for good storytelling. He emphasized the real-life risks involved in such performances and the responsibility wrestling has towards its audience, especially younger fans.
