Darby Allin’s AEW World Championship shot at risk as Jon Moxley challenges for title opportunity
A major change has occurred in the upcoming AEW World Championship match at “Dynamite: Grand Slam.” Darby Allin, who had earned a title shot by winning the Royal Rampage match in July, will not be challenging Bryan Danielson for the championship as originally planned. This shift comes after Allin’s unsuccessful attempt to win the TNT title from Jack Perry at Wembley Stadium on August 25.
The alteration in plans was revealed when Jon Moxley confronted Allin during a recent episode of “AEW Dynamite.” Moxley claimed that Danielson would be unable to defend his title due to actions by Moxley and the Blackpool Combat Club. He then suggested that Allin should give up his title shot to someone more prepared – namely, Moxley himself. However, Allin refused this proposal, criticizing Moxley’s betrayal of Danielson. Instead, Allin challenged Moxley to a match at “Grand Slam,” with his guaranteed title shot on the line. This sets up a rematch of their July 2020 bout, but with much higher stakes.
