Damian Priest reveals behind-the-scenes details of historic Bad Bunny match at WWE Backlash in Puerto Rico
Damian Priest recently shared insights about his memorable match against Bad Bunny at WWE Backlash in Puerto Rico last year. The former World Heavyweight Champion revealed that the match almost didn’t happen, stating it likely wouldn’t have taken place if not in Puerto Rico. Priest emphasized the importance of representing the Latin community and all Hispanics, viewing it as an opportunity to open doors for many.
Despite feeling nervous leading up to the event and concerns about whether WWE had made the right choice, Priest and Bad Bunny were determined to keep it as a one-on-one match rather than changing it to a tag team format. Priest expressed immense pride in the match, calling it his favorite due to its larger significance beyond winning or losing. He also noted that involving other Puerto Rican wrestlers like the LWO, Carlito, and Savio Vega was his idea to enhance the local representation and appeal to the live audience.
