Christian Cage Wins Casino Gauntlet Match at AEW All In, Earns Future World Title Shot
The Casino Gauntlet match at AEW All In featured several surprises, including appearances by Zack Sabre Jr., Nigel McGuinness, and Ricochet. Christian Cage emerged as the unexpected winner with help from his ally Killswitch, shortly after losing the AEW World Trios Championships.
Dave Meltzer reported that Christian’s victory was planned, as he was originally scheduled to win a previous Casino Gauntlet match earlier this year. When that didn’t happen, he was set to win this one instead. The win grants Christian a future AEW World Championship shot at a time of his choosing.
AEW has held two previous Casino Gauntlet matches, both won by Will Ospreay. The first led to Ospreay winning the International Championship, while the second resulted in an unsuccessful World Title challenge.
Christian has not yet announced when he’ll use his championship opportunity. His likely opponent will be Bryan Danielson, who won the AEW World Championship from Swerve Strickland in the All In main event.
