Bryan Danielson reveals reasons for WWE exit and choice to join AEW

Bryan Danielson, formerly known as Daniel Bryan in WWE, has opened up about his decision to leave the company in 2021. In a recent interview, Danielson revealed that he had four options to consider at the time: joining AEW, staying with WWE, retiring from wrestling altogether, or becoming a free agent to pursue independent ventures like participating in New Japan Pro-Wrestling’s G1 Climax tournament.

Contrary to popular belief, Danielson’s departure from WWE wasn’t due to dissatisfaction with the company or its leadership under Vince McMahon. Instead, he explained that there were certain things he wanted to do in his career that weren’t possible within WWE’s structure. Despite enjoying his time with WWE, Danielson stated that he would have still chosen to sign with AEW regardless of who was in charge of WWE at the time. Since joining AEW in September 2021, Danielson has achieved significant success, including main eventing five pay-per-views and winning the AEW World Championship.
