Booker T weighs in on AEW’s violent approach, praises Strickland but criticizes extreme elements
AEW’s recent All Out event in Chicago pushed the boundaries of violence in wrestling. Booker T, speaking on his podcast, expressed no issues with AEW’s approach, viewing it as an alternative to WWE rather than direct competition. He compared the situation to the past when WWE, WCW, and ECW coexisted, each offering different styles of wrestling entertainment.
While Booker T admitted that AEW doesn’t align with his personal tastes, he praised one of its stars, Strickland, calling him an “extraordinary talent” capable of doing anything in the ring. Booker suggested that engaging in violent matches early in a career might be strategic, as such performances become more challenging with age. However, he drew the line at certain elements used in the event, such as a hypodermic needle and a suffocation angle, deeming them inappropriate for wrestling.
