AJ Styles Reveals Regret Over Edge’s Heel Turn in 2022 Rivalry
In a recent interview with Inside The Ropes, AJ Styles reflected on his 2022 feud with Edge, calling it a “dream feud,” but expressing that it was executed in the “wrong context.”
Styles stated that Edge “should have never been a heel,” and that he “wasn’t a guy that you looked at as a bad guy.” He admitted that this would be the only change he would make to their storyline.
Their rivalry began at WrestleMania 38 when Styles accepted Edge’s open challenge. Edge, with assistance from Damian Priest, emerged victorious. This marked the start of Edge’s heel turn and the formation of The Judgment Day faction.
The feud continued with Edge defeating Styles at Backlash, aided by Rhea Ripley’s interference. It culminated at Hell In a Cell, where The Judgment Day triumphed over Styles, Finn Balor, and Liv Morgan.
Despite their differing opinions on the storyline’s direction, Styles maintained that he and Edge “had fun.”
Edge is currently sidelined due to a leg injury sustained at AEW Double or Nothing, while Styles recently lost at Clash at The Castle. Despite this, fans are still hopeful for a potential rematch between the two.
