AEW’s The Blade undergoes successful back fusion surgery, shares recovery updates on social media
Jesse Guilmette, known as The Blade in AEW, recently underwent successful back fusion surgery. The wrestler shared updates on Instagram, including a video of himself walking in the hospital and a photo of his hospital meal. Many AEW stars, including Miro, sent well wishes to Guilmette in the comments.
Guilmette’s back problems started after a fall in 2020 and worsened over time, leading to his absence from the ring. The last time The Butcher and The Blade appeared on AEW TV was in January, losing matches on “Rampage” and during a Ring of Honor taping. Guilmette expressed gratitude towards AEW CEO Tony Khan for the care provided by the company, especially considering he signed with AEW later in his career.
While The Blade recovers, his tag team partner The Butcher has remained active in AEW. The Butcher’s most recent match was last month on “Rampage,” where he teamed up with The Outrunners against Orange Cassidy, Mark Briscoe, and Tomohiro Ishii.
