AEW’s Cash Wheeler Overcomes Legal Troubles, Contemplates Retirement Before Deciding to Continue Wrestling Career
Cash Wheeler, former AEW Tag Team Champion, faced a serious legal challenge in 2023 when he was arrested for aggravated assault with a firearm following a road rage incident. The charges were expected to lead to a trial in May 2024, but the prosecution ultimately decided not to pursue the case, allowing Wheeler to put this difficult period behind him.
During this tumultuous time, Wheeler considered retiring from wrestling altogether. His tag team partner, Dax Harwood, revealed in a recent interview that Wheeler was willing to give up his career to protect Harwood from any potential backlash. Wheeler even expressed readiness to retreat to his hometown cabin and leave the wrestling world behind.
However, after discussing the situation together, Wheeler and Harwood decided to continue their journey as the tag team FTR. This decision ensured that their story in professional wrestling would not come to an abrupt end in 2023, despite the challenges they faced.
