AEW President Tony Khan Compares Company’s Growth to AFL’s Impact on Football Industry
All Elite Wrestling (AEW), founded in 2019, has quickly become a major player in the professional wrestling industry. AEW President Tony Khan recently compared the company’s rapid growth to that of the American Football League (AFL) in the 1960s. Khan highlighted that AEW’s market share in wrestling is comparable to what the AFL achieved in football, calling it an “unprecedented success story.”
Khan drew parallels between AEW’s rise and the AFL’s impact on the sports landscape. He noted how the AFL’s success led to its merger with the NFL, creating the modern NFL structure and the Super Bowl. While Khan didn’t suggest a similar merger between AEW and WWE, he expressed pride in AEW’s growing market share. The company’s success is evident in its recent achievement of selling over 50,000 tickets for its 2024 All In pay-per-view event, repeating this feat for the second consecutive year.
