AEW Nears Media Rights Deal with WBD, Explores FOX Partnership for Potential New Show

AEW and Warner Brothers Discovery are reportedly close to finalizing a new media rights deal. According to Dave Meltzer of Wrestling Observer Radio, the agreement has been reached and includes significant changes, particularly regarding pay-per-view events. While the exact details are unclear, it appears that WBD will gain rights to AEW’s pay-per-views, possibly doubling their number. This new arrangement may involve streaming on MAX, WBD’s platform, though the specific format is yet to be confirmed.

In addition to the WBD deal, AEW is also in talks with FOX. Although this agreement is not yet complete, AEW’s recent trademark of “Shockwave” suggests that negotiations are progressing well. Meltzer speculates that “Shockwave” is likely to air on a FOX-owned channel rather than the main FOX network. There are rumors within the AEW locker room that “Shockwave” could be a one-hour show on FOX Sports 1, though this remains unconfirmed.
