AEW Nears Lucrative Media Rights Deal with Warner Bros Discovery, Potential for Significant Growth
AEW is reportedly close to finalizing a new media rights deal with Warner Bros Discovery, with an announcement expected as early as next week. According to industry analyst Dave Meltzer, the deal could bring in between $232 million and $282 million in revenue for AEW. This figure doesn’t include a potential additional deal with Fox, which could further boost the company’s income.
While this new agreement would likely make AEW profitable, the exact amount remains uncertain. Meltzer estimates potential profits of around $56 million based on the higher revenue figure. However, he suggests that AEW owner Tony Khan might reinvest much of this money into expanding the business, possibly by hiring more staff or signing new wrestlers.
This development comes after AEW made some cost-cutting measures earlier this year, particularly affecting their “AEW Collision” show. These included changing the show’s theme song and holding multiple events at the same venue in Arlington, Texas. With the new media rights deal on the horizon, it appears that AEW may be poised for a period of growth and expansion in the near future.
