AEW nears completion of Warner Brothers Discovery deal, explores additional media partnerships

AEW’s media rights deal with Warner Brothers Discovery is nearing completion, according to AEW President Tony Khan. He expects an announcement within the next month. This deal has been a major focus for AEW in 2024, despite not directly involving in-ring action. Dave Meltzer from Wrestling Observer Radio confirms that the agreement with WBD is essentially finalized, though the official announcement is still pending.

In addition to the WBD deal, AEW has filed a trademark for “AEW Shockwave,” which is likely to be a new television show. Meltzer suggests that while some content will air on WBD networks, negotiations are also underway for programming outside of WBD. This indicates that AEW’s future media strategy may involve multiple platforms and partnerships, rather than an exclusive arrangement with WBD.
