AEW nears $170 million deal with Warner Bros. Discovery; Eric Bischoff offers cautious optimism
Reports suggest that AEW is close to finalizing a deal with Warner Brothers Discovery (WBD) worth around $170 million per year. Eric Bischoff, former executive of WCW, TNA, and WWE, has responded positively to this news despite his typically skeptical stance on AEW’s business prospects.
Bischoff clarified that he always believed AEW would secure a new deal with WBD, contrary to claims that he had predicted the company’s demise. He emphasized that this development is “nothing but good news” for AEW. However, Bischoff cautioned against assumptions about AEW’s profitability under the new deal.
The former executive expressed concerns about conclusions being drawn without full knowledge of AEW’s expenses. He pointed out that important financial details, such as talent budgets and production costs, are not publicly known. Bischoff stressed the importance of having this information before determining whether the new deal will indeed make AEW profitable.
