The September 18 episode of AEW Dynamite, which aired live from Wilkes-Barre, Pennsylvania, set the stage for next week’s “Grand Slam” event at Arthur Ashe Stadium. The show featured notable developments, including Orange Cassidy’s match with Chris Jericho, Ricochet earning a championship opportunity against Will Ospreay, and Kyle Fletcher securing a victory ahead of a tag team title match.

While the episode’s average viewership decreased to 687,000 viewers, a 4% drop from the previous week, it saw an increase in the key 18-49 demographic. The show’s rating in this age group rose by 5% to 0.22, ranking it second among cable prime time shows and sixth overall when including network stations. This demographic boost occurred despite the overall viewership decline.

The broadcast began strong with 784,000 viewers for the Jericho vs. Cassidy match, benefiting from “The Big Bang Theory” lead-in. Although viewership fluctuated throughout the night, ending at 627,000 viewers, the 18-49 demographic actually saw higher numbers by the end of the show compared to its start.
