Bryan Danielson, the current AEW World Champion, recently discussed the missed opportunity to face CM Punk during their time in AEW. Despite their extensive history of matches in WWE, Ring of Honor, and Full Impact Pro, a one-on-one encounter between the two never materialized in AEW before Punk’s departure. Danielson expressed that while it would have been “really cool and really fun,” he wasn’t particularly saddened by the missed opportunity.

The two wrestlers have a rich history of competition, having faced each other eight times in singles matches during their WWE tenure, as well as twice in other promotions. They also teamed up in 2013, taking on notable groups like The Wyatt Family and The Shield. Their last match together occurred at WWE’s Tribute to the Troops event in 2013, where they emerged victorious against Erick Rowan and Luke Harper in a disqualification finish.
