Roman Reigns and Cody Rhodes Face Off in Anticipated SmackDown Segment, Setting Stage for Temporary Alliance
A highly anticipated face-off between Roman Reigns and Cody Rhodes was featured on WWE SmackDown, taking place at Georgia Tech’s Bobby Dodd Stadium. The segment, which set the stage for their temporary alliance against The Bloodline at Bad Blood, was produced by Jeremy Borash, WWE NXT’s Senior Director of Content and Development. Borash, who has become a trusted figure for on-location segments, worked alongside Director of Character Development Rob Fee to create the well-received video package.
Despite Reigns’ storyline separation from his “Wiseman,” Paul Heyman was heavily involved in directing the talent for this segment. While Reigns did not appear on SmackDown beyond this pre-recorded encounter, Rhodes made a live appearance later in the show. Rhodes came to Kevin Owens’ rescue during a Bloodline attack, adding tension to their developing storyline. Owens, who had been shown watching the Reigns-Rhodes segment earlier, appeared conflicted about the idea of the rivals teaming up. The show concluded with Owens reluctantly accepting Rhodes’ help, hinting at potential future developments in their complex relationship.
