Stephen Amell Criticizes Green Arrow Joke in “Peacemaker,” Targets James Gunn
Actor Stephen Amell has expressed frustration over a joke made about his portrayal of Green Arrow in the season finale of John Cena’s “Peacemaker” series. Amell, who played the superhero for eight years in the CW’s “Arrowverse,” felt the criticism was unnecessary and underestimated the challenge of playing a non-powered hero for multiple episodes each year.
Despite his irritation, Amell clarified that his issue is primarily with James Gunn, the creator of “Peacemaker” and current co-CEO of DC Studios, rather than with Cena himself. He praised Cena as a genuinely nice person and emphasized that there’s no personal vendetta between them. Meanwhile, Cena is currently working on the second season of “Peacemaker,” which is expected to conclude production before he begins his year-long retirement tour with WWE in January 2025.
