Darby Allin to defend title shot against Jon Moxley at AEW Dynamite: Grand Slam amid criticism

Darby Allin and Jon Moxley are set to face off at “AEW Dynamite: Grand Slam,” where Allin will defend his guaranteed AEW World Championship title shot. The tension between the two wrestlers escalated on a recent episode of “Dynamite,” with Allin striking Claudio Castagnoli with a skateboard before confronting Moxley in the ring. However, their face-off lacked the expected physicality, consisting mainly of circling each other.

WWE Hall of Famer Bully Ray criticized this encounter on “Busted Open After Dark,” suggesting that Allin should have been more aggressive, especially given that he was armed with a skateboard. Ray expressed disappointment that the confrontation didn’t lead to more action between the two competitors.

The rivalry between Moxley and Allin began after AEW All In, with Moxley demanding Allin’s title shot due to uncertainty surrounding AEW World Champion Bryan Danielson’s medical condition. Allin refused to simply hand over the opportunity, insisting that Moxley earn it, setting the stage for their upcoming match at “Dynamite: Grand Slam.”
