Mariah May to Defend AEW Women’s World Championship Against Yuka Sakazaki at “Dynamite: Grand Slam”
The AEW Women’s World Championship match at “AEW Dynamite: Grand Slam” has been set, with champion Mariah May defending her title against Yuka Sakazaki. The rivalry between the two has intensified since Sakazaki’s return from injury, leading to May attacking her opponent and even getting disqualified in a recent match. May has challenged Sakazaki’s “Magical Girl” persona, claiming it’s fake and that in Japan, Sakazaki is known as a bully called “The Killer.”
The championship bout is one of several high-profile matches scheduled for the event at Arthur Ashe Stadium. Other title defenses include HOOK vs. Roderick Strong for the FTW Championship and The Young Bucks vs. Will Ospreay and Kyle Fletcher for the World Tag Team Championship. Additionally, Bryan Danielson will face Nigel McGuinness in a non-title grudge match, replacing the originally planned AEW World Championship defense against Darby Allin.
