CM Punk to Referee NXT Title Match on CW Network Debut in Chicago
CM Punk, the WWE Raw star, is set to be the special guest referee for the NXT Title match between champion Ethan Page and former champion Trick Williams. This high-profile match will take place during WWE NXT’s debut on the CW Network in Punk’s hometown of Chicago on October 1. The announcement came after a chaotic contract signing attempt, where Page attacked Williams instead of signing the document.
NBA player Tyrese Haliburton of the Indiana Pacers stepped in to facilitate the contract signing backstage. After both wrestlers signed, Punk made his appearance and declared himself the special guest referee, much to the delight of the fans. Punk’s involvement led to an immediate brawl between Page and Williams, which had to be broken up.
Behind the scenes, Punk has been actively involved with NXT, mentoring talents like NXT Women’s Champion Roxanne Perez and Trick Williams. His presence backstage and willingness to speak with approaching talent demonstrates his commitment to helping develop the next generation of WWE superstars since his return to the company at Survivor Series: War Games last year.
