AEW All Out 2024 featured extreme violence that sparked debate in the wrestling community. The event included a cage match between Swerve Strickland and Adam Page that was particularly brutal, causing former WWE writer Freddie Prinze Jr. to feel physically ill. Prinze Jr. admitted he had to look away during certain moments, like when a needle was used on a wrestler’s cheek, calling it “gruesome.” Despite his discomfort, he praised the overall match and the storyline leading up to it.

The event has divided opinions among wrestling personalities. Booker T appreciated the talent involved but cautioned wrestlers to engage in such extreme performances while young to preserve their long-term careers. Even hardcore wrestling veteran Tommy Dreamer expressed concern about some of the dangerous elements used, particularly light tubes. AEW CEO Tony Khan defended the decisions made during the event, citing the intelligence of the company’s wrestlers and coaches, and expressed overall satisfaction with All Out despite acknowledging that some viewers felt it crossed a line.
