AEW’s Lance Archer Breaks Big Man Stereotype with Agile Wrestling Style
Lance Archer, a towering AEW wrestler, has defied expectations by incorporating agile and athletic moves into his in-ring style. On his new podcast, Archer revealed that while he was initially trained by old-school wrestlers who had specific ideas about how big men should perform, he chose to evolve his style over time. He explained that during the early 2000s, there was a shift in wrestling that allowed for more diverse performances, regardless of size.
Throughout his career, Archer has been encouraged to be authentic rather than conform to stereotypical “big man” wrestling. He gradually added more athletic moves to his arsenal, including backflips and moonsaults. Archer noted that these moves came naturally to him, though he did experience a rare mishap in AEW when he landed on his head during a moonsault attempt. Despite being over two decades into his wrestling career, Archer continues to be an active competitor in AEW, with his most recent match being against Mark Briscoe on a September edition of AEW Collision.
