Thunder Rosa Sidelined with Concussion, Raises Awareness on Brain Injuries
Thunder Rosa, who returned to wrestling in December 2023 after a 16-month absence due to a back injury, has announced she’s facing another setback. The former AEW Women’s Champion revealed on “Busted Open Radio” that she’s currently dealing with a concussion. While the exact cause and timing of the injury are unknown, Rosa expects to be out of action for a couple of weeks. She took the opportunity to raise awareness about concussions, encouraging fans to follow Chris Nowinski, a former WWE star and CEO of the Concussion Legacy Foundation, for valuable information on the subject.
Rosa’s most recent match took place on August 31 during “AEW Collision,” where she participated in a four-way contest alongside Hikaru Shida, Serena Deeb, and Queen Aminata. The match, won by Shida, determined the next challenger for the TBS Championship held by Mercedes Mone. Before this, Rosa was involved in a heated rivalry with Deonna Purrazzo, which began when their tag team partnership soured after an incident on “AEW Dynamite.” Their feud culminated in a Texas Bullrope Match on “Collision” last month.
