WWE Revamps SmackDown and NXT as Shows Move to New Networks, Targeting Higher Ratings

WWE is making big changes as its shows move to new networks. SmackDown, heading to USA Network, will get a new theme song from a mainstream artist and enjoy more flexible scheduling. The show will no longer have to end at 9:58 PM to avoid clashing with local news. NXT, moving to The CW, will have a more structured format and likely won’t run past 10 PM.

Both shows are expected to undergo production changes and alterations to their episode pacing. WWE is also adding new talent to both SmackDown and NXT ahead of their premieres on the new networks. This strategy aims to make a strong impression, especially for NXT on The CW, which will be going on the road. The company is particularly focused on earning high ratings, with a key date being October 8, when NXT will air opposite AEW Dynamite.
