Sami Zayn honors late NHL star, challenges GUNTHER for World Heavyweight Championship at emotional WWE Raw
Sami Zayn experienced an emotional night during WWE Raw in Calgary. He honored the late Johnny Gaudreau, a former Calgary Flames player who recently passed away in a tragic accident, by wearing his jersey. The event also saw Zayn share the ring with his childhood hero, WWE Hall of Famer Bret “The Hitman” Hart.
In a post-show interview, Zayn expressed the significance of being in the ring with Hart in Calgary. Inspired by Hart’s words about being a champion, particularly a Canadian champion, Zayn declared his intention to pursue the World Heavyweight Championship currently held by GUNTHER. The encounter with Hart reignited Zayn’s competitive spirit and determination to honor Hart’s legacy.
During the show, Zayn confronted GUNTHER, challenging him for the World Heavyweight Championship. However, GUNTHER rejected the challenge, leading Hart to call him a “coward.” This provoked Zayn to attack GUNTHER, resulting in a physical altercation that had to be broken up by WWE officials. The incident has further fueled Zayn’s resolve to pursue the championship title.
