A year after the passing of wrestling legend Terry Funk, his brother Dory Funk Jr., at 83 years old, participated in a special match in Japan to honor Terry’s memory. The event, called the Double Hell Current Explosion Death Match, took place in FMW and featured Dory teaming up with Osamu Nishimura against Raijin Yaguchi and Atsushi Onita.

WWE executive Bruce Prichard shared his thoughts on the tribute match and reflected on Terry Funk’s legacy. Prichard believes Terry would have appreciated the gesture and emphasized Funk’s lasting influence on the wrestling industry. He described Terry Funk as “one of a kind” and “one of the absolute greatest” in wrestling history, noting that his impact can still be seen in various aspects of modern wrestling, from promos to in-ring work and psychology. Prichard also shared personal memories of his relationship with Funk, including valuable advice he received as a teenager and how he came to be considered part of the Funk family over the years.

Prichard drew parallels between Terry Funk and recently deceased wrestler Bray Wyatt, stating that both men left an indelible mark on the wrestling industry that will continue to be felt for years to come. The tribute match and Prichard’s reflections serve as a reminder of Terry Funk’s significant contributions to professional wrestling and the respect he commanded among his peers and fans alike.
