Damian Priest changes finisher to avoid confusion with Cody Rhodes’ move, showcasing adaptability in WWE
Damian Priest has experienced a remarkable rise to prominence since joining WWE’s main roster. He has been part of The Judgment Day, won the World Heavyweight Championship, and is currently involved in a high-profile feud. His success has been accompanied by necessary adjustments, including a change to his finishing move.
When Cody Rhodes returned to WWE, Priest decided to modify his finisher, “The Reckoning,” which was similar to Rhodes’ “Cross Rhodes.” Although WWE officials and Rhodes himself didn’t explicitly ask Priest to change the move, he chose to do so to avoid confusion among fans. Priest explained that while both moves are variations of a Rolling Cutter, Rhodes’ version involves hooking the arms and twisting, whereas Priest’s involved taking his arm out and spinning underneath.
Priest’s decision to alter his finisher demonstrates his awareness of the audience’s perspective and his willingness to evolve as a performer. This change, along with his successful run on the main roster, highlights Priest’s adaptability and commitment to his character development in WWE.
