WWE’s Major Network Shifts: SmackDown, NXT, and Raw Prepare for New Homes in 2024-2025

WWE’s flagship shows are set for major transitions in September 2024. “SmackDown” will move from FOX to USA Network, “NXT” will shift from USA to The CW, and “Raw” will prepare for its 2025 Netflix debut while remaining on USA until year-end. Industry expert Dave Meltzer anticipates significant storylines and matches to be featured on the final episodes of “SmackDown” on FOX (September 6) and “NXT” on USA (September 24).

The network changes are expected to impact TV ratings. “SmackDown” is likely to see a decrease in viewership as it moves from network to cable television, though this drop is attributed to the change in platform rather than a loss of fan interest. Meltzer predicts that “SmackDown’s” new ratings baseline will become clearer by October. Additionally, “Raw” is expected to face challenges in maintaining its ratings until its Netflix move, primarily due to competition from NFL football broadcasts.
