Ronda Rousey Reveals Challenges and Lessons from Early WWE Feud with Alexa Bliss

Ronda Rousey recently discussed her early WWE feud with Alexa Bliss on the “Ring the Belle” podcast. Despite Rousey’s impressive debut at WrestleMania 34, WWE decided to pair her with Bliss, the smallest woman on the roster. Rousey revealed that this decision was made primarily because Bliss was a top merchandise seller and Rousey was popular at the time, rather than for any strategic or storytelling reasons.

The former UFC champion explained that working with the smaller Bliss presented unique challenges and learning opportunities. Rousey had to adapt her style to make their matches look believable while also ensuring Bliss’s safety, as she was dealing with injuries at the time. This experience helped Rousey become a more well-rounded wrestler, teaching her to rely less on pure athleticism and more on in-ring storytelling and opponent care.

However, despite Rousey’s efforts to work safely, Bliss suffered two concussions during their feud, causing her to miss the WWE Evolution pay-per-view. This highlights the ongoing risks and challenges in professional wrestling, even when performers are actively trying to protect each other in the ring.
