Mariah May recently won the AEW Women’s World Championship at AEW All In by defeating Toni Storm. In a recent interview, May revealed that her favorite part of the victory was not just winning the title, but specifically ending Storm’s reign. She admitted that Storm had done nothing to deserve the betrayal, but May wanted to make it clear that “it’s all about Mariah, and not Toni Storm.”

May explained that she chose to turn on her mentor after winning the Owen Hart Cup in July, giving her extra time to get into Storm’s head. She described how Storm had felt like a mother figure to her, which made the betrayal even more hurtful. May believes this psychological advantage contributed to her victory at Wembley Stadium.

The storyline between May and Storm is reportedly inspired by the 1950 film “All About Eve,” which tells the tale of an obsessive fan who usurps an aging actor’s position. AEW co-owner Tony Khan has openly discussed this inspiration, drawing parallels between the film’s plot and the May-Storm rivalry in professional wrestling.
