RevPro Founder Reveals Why He Rejected WWE Partnership Offer, Citing Acquisition Clause

In the 2010s, WWE began collaborating with independent wrestling promotions, particularly in Europe, as social media made it difficult for the company to remain isolated. This expansion included partnerships with promotions like PROGRESS in England, ICW in Scotland, and wXw in Germany as part of their “NXT UK” initiative.

RevPro, a promotion that recently celebrated its 12th anniversary, was also approached by WWE for a potential partnership. However, RevPro founder Andy Quildan revealed in an interview that he declined the offer due to a specific clause in the contract. The agreement would have allowed WWE to purchase RevPro entirely at the end of the contract term, not just the rights to their footage. Quildan expressed concerns about the implications of such a deal, including job security and potential non-compete clauses. While it’s unclear if other European promotions faced similar terms, WWE did acquire the American promotion EVOLVE in 2020 after an extensive working relationship.
